1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using the Geog API, developer dashboard, or any related services (collectively, the "Services"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you are entering into these Terms on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and "you" refers to that organization.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not access or use the Services.
2. Who We Are
Geog LLC ("Geog," "we," "our," or "us") is a limited liability company that provides vector tile and places API services for developers building location-aware applications.

3. Services
Geog provides:
- Vector Tiles API - Serving map tile data in vector format for use in mapping applications.
- Places API - Querying geographic place data including names, coordinates, and metadata.
Service availability, features, and pricing are described on our website and may be updated from time to time.
4. Accounts and API Keys
4.1 Registration
To use the Services, you must create an account and obtain an API key. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep that information up to date.
4.2 API Key Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your API keys. Do not share API keys publicly, commit them to public repositories, or expose them in client-side code where they can be extracted. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your API keys.
4.3 Unauthorized Access
If you believe your API key has been compromised, you must revoke it immediately through your dashboard and notify us at legal@geog.dev.
5. Acceptable Use
5.1 Permitted Use
You may use the Services to build, develop, and operate applications and services that incorporate map tile and place data, subject to these Terms and any applicable usage limits.
5.2 Prohibited Use
You may not:
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute raw API responses or tile data as a standalone data product or mapping API without our written consent.
- Use the Services to build a product that is a direct substitute for or competitor to the Geog API itself.
- Scrape, cache, or store tile or place data beyond what is reasonably necessary for your application's normal operation, except as expressly permitted.
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract underlying data schemas or algorithms from the Services.
- Use the Services in any manner that violates applicable law, regulation, or third-party rights.
- Use the Services to facilitate illegal surveillance, tracking of individuals without consent, or any activity that violates privacy rights.
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits, quotas, or access controls.
- Use automated tools to generate excessive or abusive API traffic beyond your plan limits.
5.3 Usage Limits
Your use of the Services is subject to the usage limits associated with your plan (including free tier limits). Exceeding limits may result in throttling, suspension, or additional charges depending on your plan.
6. Fees and Payment
6.1 Free Tier
Geog offers a free tier subject to usage limits as described on our pricing page. Free tier limits are subject to change with reasonable notice.
6.2 Paid Plans
If you subscribe to a paid plan, you agree to pay all applicable fees. Fees are billed in advance and are non-refundable except as required by law or as expressly stated in these Terms.
6.3 Changes to Pricing
We reserve the right to change our pricing with at least 30 days' notice. Continued use of the Services after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.
6.4 Taxes
You are responsible for all applicable taxes associated with your use of the Services, excluding taxes on Geog's net income.
7. Intellectual Property
7.1 Geog's IP
The Services, including all software, APIs, documentation, data, and visual elements, are owned by Geog LLC or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any ownership rights in the Services.
7.2 License to Use
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, Geog grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Services for your own applications.
7.3 Your Content and Applications
You retain ownership of applications you build using the Services. You grant Geog a limited license to process your API requests solely to provide the Services.
7.4 Feedback
If you provide feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the Services, you grant Geog a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use that feedback without obligation to you.
8. Data and Privacy
Your use of the Services is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Services, you consent to the data practices described in the Privacy Policy.
9. Disclaimers
THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY OF DATA, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.
Geog does not warrant that:
- The Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times.
- Map tile or place data will be accurate, complete, or up to date.
- The Services will meet your specific requirements.
Geographic and place data are provided for general development and application purposes. They should not be used as the sole basis for navigation, emergency response, or any application where data inaccuracies could result in harm.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, GEOG LLC AND ITS MEMBERS, MANAGERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES, EVEN IF GEOG HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
IN NO EVENT SHALL GEOG'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO GEOG IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM OR (B) $100.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Geog LLC and its members, managers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to:
- Your use of the Services in violation of these Terms.
- Your applications built using the Services.
- Your violation of any applicable law or third-party rights.
12. Termination
12.1 Termination by You
You may stop using the Services and close your account at any time through your dashboard.
12.2 Termination by Geog
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services at any time for any of the following reasons:
- Violation of these Terms or our Acceptable Use Policy.
- Non-payment of fees.
- Conduct that we reasonably believe poses a risk to the Services, other users, or third parties.
- Extended periods of inactivity on free tier accounts (with notice).
12.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination, your license to use the Services ends immediately. Sections 7, 9, 10, 11, 13, and 14 survive termination.
13. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Geog LLC is registered, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, it shall be submitted to binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association (AAA), conducted in English.
You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration related to the Services.
14. General Provisions
14.1 Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through a notice in the dashboard. Your continued use of the Services after the effective date of any update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
14.2 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any applicable plan agreements, constitute the entire agreement between you and Geog LLC regarding the Services.
14.3 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
14.4 No Waiver
Failure by Geog to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
14.5 Assignment
You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. Geog may assign these Terms without restriction.
