Geog LLC
Last updated: March 8, 2026
1. Introduction
Geog LLC ("Geog," "we," "our," or "us") is committed to being transparent about how we handle data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights with respect to that information.
This policy applies to the Geog API, developer dashboard, and related services (collectively, the "Services").
For questions or concerns, contact us at: legal@geog.dev
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Name - to identify your account.
- Email address - for account access, billing notifications, and service communications.
- Organization name - if you register on behalf of an organization.
- Billing information - processed and stored by our third-party payment processor; Geog does not store payment card details directly.
2.2 API Usage Data
When your application calls the Geog API, we collect:
- API key identifier - to attribute requests to your account or organization.
- Endpoint called - e.g., vector tiles or places queries.
- Request metadata - such as timestamps and request counts.
- Tile coordinates and place query parameters - the geographic data included in your API requests (e.g., tile Z/X/Y coordinates, place search queries).
- Request country/region - derived from Cloudflare request headers, representing the country or region from which an API request originated. This is coarse geographic metadata at the country or region level only. We do not collect IP addresses.
We do not collect any personally identifiable information about the end users of your applications. The API usage data we collect relates to your developer account and the technical parameters of API requests, not to the individuals using applications you build.
2.3 Dashboard and Website Usage
When you use the Geog developer dashboard or website, we may collect:
- Browser type and version.
- Pages visited and actions taken within the dashboard.
- Error logs and diagnostic information.
We use this information to improve the dashboard experience and diagnose technical issues.
2.4 Communications
If you contact us for support or via email, we retain those communications to respond to your inquiries and improve our Services.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and operate the Services - process API requests, authenticate access, and deliver map tile and place data.
- Manage your account - maintain your account, generate API keys, and enforce usage limits.
- Billing and payments - calculate usage, generate invoices, and process payments through our payment processor.
- Monitor and enforce usage - track API usage against plan limits and detect abuse or policy violations.
- Improve the Services - analyze usage patterns at an aggregate level to understand how the Services are used and where they can be improved.
- Communicate with you - send account-related notifications, billing updates, and (with your consent) product announcements.
- Security and fraud prevention - detect unauthorized access, abuse of API keys, and other security threats.
- Legal compliance - comply with applicable laws, regulations, and lawful requests.
4. Data Retention
We retain data for the following periods:
- Account information - for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes.
- API usage logs - rolling retention of up to 90 days for detailed request logs; aggregated usage statistics may be retained longer for billing and reporting purposes.
- Billing records - as required by applicable law (typically 7 years for financial records).
- Communications - for as long as necessary to resolve the matter and for a reasonable period afterward.
You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see Section 7).
5. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
5.1 Service Providers
We share information with third-party service providers who help us operate the Services, including:
- Payment processors - to handle billing and subscription management.
- Infrastructure and hosting providers - to host the Services and deliver API responses.
- Cloudflare - as our CDN and network provider, which processes request routing and provides country/region metadata.
- Analytics providers - to monitor dashboard usage and system health.
These providers are contractually obligated to use your information only to provide services to us and in accordance with this policy.
5.2 Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required to do so by law, court order, or lawful request from a government authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Geog, our users, or the public.
5.3 Business Transfers
If Geog is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email or a prominent notice on our website before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
5.4 With Your Consent
We may share information for other purposes with your explicit consent.
6. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. These measures include:
- Encryption of data in transit using TLS.
- API key hashing and secure storage.
- Access controls limiting who within Geog can access account data.
- Regular security reviews of our infrastructure.
No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights and Choices
7.1 Access and Correction
You may access and update your account information at any time through the Geog dashboard.
7.2 Account Deletion
You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us at legal@geog.dev. Upon deletion, we will remove or anonymize your personal information, subject to our retention obligations for billing records and legal compliance.
7.3 Marketing Communications
If you receive marketing or product announcement emails from us, you may unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link in those emails. Transactional and account-related communications are not subject to opt-out.
7.4 Data Portability
You may request a copy of your account information and usage data in a portable format by contacting us at legal@geog.dev.
8. Cookies and Tracking
The Geog dashboard and website may use cookies and similar technologies to:
- Maintain your logged-in session.
- Remember preferences.
- Collect anonymous analytics about dashboard usage.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of the dashboard.
We do not use cookies for cross-site advertising or behavioral tracking.
9. Third-Party Services and Links
The Services may contain links to third-party websites or documentation. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party services. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you use in connection with Geog.
Our use of Cloudflare as a network infrastructure provider means that API request routing passes through Cloudflare's network. Cloudflare's own privacy practices apply to data processed through their infrastructure.
10. Children's Privacy
The Services are not directed at individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us at legal@geog.dev and we will take steps to delete that information.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through a notice in the dashboard, and we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. Your continued use of the Services after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
